A new, family-friendly event is planned for Warrenton’s Main Street on June 23.The Downtown Market Day will feature vendors and activities in what organizers hope will be a similar quality to Warrenton’s annual Fall Festival, albeit on a smaller scale.“We had a vision of bringing a spring or early summer event downtown,” said Bob Truetken, owner of Deerfield’s On Main. Truetken is president of the Warrenton Downtown Association, the organizing group for the event.“We’re trying to bring families downtown to be able to come and visit,” Truetken said. The event will feature live music, baby goats, activities and crafts for children, and a number of outdoor vendors. Organizers are inviting artisans, farmers, crafters and other sellers to participate. This will be the first year for the event, which Truetken said took inspiration from other festivals in the past. It’s something he hopes will grow in future years to help more people enjoy downtown Warrenton.“We’ll learn from this year and be able to make it bigger and better next year,” he said.Several streets will be closed to vehicle traffic during the Market Day event. A section of Main Street will be closed, from Thurman Street to South East Street. South East Street will be closed from Main Street to Walton Street, and Dryden Street will be closed from Main Street to Oak Street.Registration forms for vendors to participate in the event are available on the downtown association’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/WarrentonDowntownAssociation. Vendors will be asked to pay a fee to rent space for the event. The registration deadline for vendors is June 17.For questions, call event planner Stacey Blondin at 314-713-1463, or email WarrentonDowntownAssociation@gmail.com.The Warrenton Downtown Association is a group of community members and business people committed creating a vibrant Main Street area through events that provide enjoyable experiences for visitors while supporting downtown businesses and services.Downtown Warrenton
