In what is being called the county's biggest drug roundup, law enforcement authorities from several agencies took 30 individuals into custody and were seeking to arrest 25 others following the culmination of an extensive two-year undercover operation Oct. 1. Sheriff Kevin Harrison said the alleged suspects are involved in 105 criminal cases. Harrison said $14,392 was spent to purchase drugs during the undercover operation. He added that informants were able to blend into the local drug scene and make numerous contacts to identify the drug users and dealers. The bulks of the arrests were made in Warren County, according to Harrison. Other individuals were arrested in St. Charles, Lincoln and St. Louis counties. Last week's drug sting started about the same time another large roundup was conducted. Forty-five individuals were taken into custody October 2007 for what was then the largest in the county, according to Harrison. For more on the story, check out the Oct. 8 issue of The Record.
