The new Crider Health Center medical facility is on track to open next month, with primary care and pediatric services expected to be available when the doors open on June 18. Finishing touches are being completed on the new state-of-the-art 15,000-square-foot facility, located in the Brune Business Park on South Highway 47 in Warrenton. H.B.D. Construction, Inc., has served as the general contractor on the project. Additional patient services will be phased in once the first patients are seen. “It is exciting with what has been done,” said Jim Ferguson, Crider‘s project manager. “We’ve made it user friendly, customer friendly. There is no anxiety. It’s more of a calming effect when you walk in.” The new medical building will allow Crider to expand what is offered, with behavioral health and dental services to be available in early and late July, respectively. A pharmacy located inside the facility is also expected to open in late July. The pharmacy is operated by QOL Meds. The population Crider targets for its services are residents on Medicaid, and those who are uninsured or underinsured. Currently, Crider serves 3,000 people in Warren County whether it be through outpatient services and school-based programs, according to Sarah Javier, Crider vice president of development and marketing. The new location will replace a small physician’s office at 1428 North Highway 47. When the new facility opens next month, the staff will include two primary care physicians, one part-time pediatrician, one full-time dentist, and two part-time psychiatrists. Crider selected H.B.D. Construction as the general contractor based on past performance in working with the company. The construction firm oversaw its 45,000-square-foot expansion in Wentzville. This was the company’s first job in Warrenton since constructing the outlet mall in 1996. Headquartered in St. Louis since 1922, the company is celebrating 90 years of service this year. “H.B.D. values its client relationships and we especially enjoy the great people we get to work with at the Crider Center,” said Mike Perry, H.B.D. president. “We feel like we’re on the team in helping to achieve the mission of this valuable organization.” Ferguson agrees. “They have done a great job,” he said. Crider was able to proceed with the building project once it was selected to receive a $5.1 million federal grant, an announcement that was made in October 2010. The grant funds were part of the new federal Affordable Health Care Act and were administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration. A portion of the grant money was used to renovate a facility in Wentzville.
