New child porn charge filed against defendant in rape case

Posted

A Winfield man already facing rape and sodomy charges stemming from a 2019 incident in Wright City was charged Monday, Aug. 3, with possession of child pornography.

While investigating the previous case, police executed a search warrant on a cell phone seized from Cody A. Eck when he was arrested last December in Kansas. The search revealed a photo of a partially nude girl between the ages of 12 and 15 along with the words “maybe i could come over for an extra credit opportunity,” according to a probable cause statement.

Eck was previously charged Dec.15, 2025 with first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sodomy in connection with an incident in December 2019 involving a 14-year-old victim.

Eck allegedly raped the victim in the back of a car parked across the street from her house while she protested and told him “no.” While investigating the incident, police found that Eck had allegedly sexually assaulted a different victim approximately one week before the Wright City incident, which had been reported to the Warren County Sheriff’s Department and “to school personnel.”

In a July 2020 interview with a detective, Eck allegedly admitted having sex with the 14-year-old girl in the 2019 incident but said it was consensual.

According to a motion for bond reduction filed in February, Eck has been a U.S. Army military police officer for the last five years and has been stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas.

Eck’s motion to have his bond for his previous charges reduced from $100,000 cash only was denied. A no-bond arrest warrant has been issued for Eck, born in 2001, in connection with the new charge.
