After weeks of inactivity, new candidates emerged for Northern District commissioner and public administrator on the final day of the filing period Tuesday. Kathryn Fischer, a Truxton Republican, will oppose current Northern District Commissioner Dan Hampson in the Aug. 2 primary. For public administrator, Lisa Waltrip filed as a Libertarian. She will face the Republican winner of a two-person race between Eugene Buxton and Melissa Dempsey. The general election is Nov. 8.Two other county offices are contested.The three Republican candidates for coroner are incumbent Glenn Craig, Denise Mauzy and Tom Massman. The Republican race for assessor pits incumbent Wendy Nordwald against Andrew Smith.Three incumbents who have no opposition are Southern District Commissioner Hubie Kluesner, Sheriff Kevin Harrison and Surveyor Robert Lewis. An opponent will try to unseat State Rep. Bryan Spencer, who represents the 63rd District. Liz Gattra, of Wentzville, filed in the past week and will face Spencer in the August primary. Both are Republicans. The district covers Wright City, nearly all of Innsbrook and northwestern St. Charles County. State Rep. Bart Korman is running unopposed. He is running for a fourth two-year term representing the 42nd District, which encompasses all of Montgomery County, a large portion of Warren County and southwestern St. Charles County.
