After a tremendous freshman season at Indiana, Warrenton resident Nevaeh Caffey is coming home.
Caffey has transferred to the University of Missouri to play for the Tigers and Coach Kellie Harper.
Caffey started all 32 contests for the Hoosiers and averaged 8.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Now, though, Caffey will aim to help lead the Tigers coming off a 17-17 season.
“What really drew me to Mizzou was the people, the atmosphere around the program and being closer to home,” Caffey said. “It felt like a place where I could continue to grow both on and off the court.”
In announcing Caffey’s transfer, Harper was highly complimentary of her newest recruit.
"Nevaeh is a rising star whose work ethic and mentality will elevate our program," Harper said. "It's important for our staff to prioritize in-state talent and keep Missouri at the forefront – we're excited to bring Nevaeh home."
Last season, Caffey scored in double figures 12 times, including the last eight of nine games to finish the season. Caffey scored a season-high 18 points in a victory over Penn State on Feb. 28.
“During my freshman year, I learned a lot about the pace, discipline, and mindset it takes to compete at the college level,” Caffey said. “I know those experiences will help me moving forward.”
Now, Caffey will get the chance to play a big role for the Tigers.
More importantly, though, Caffey said she’ll get the chance to expand her game under the tutelage of Harper and her coaching staff.
“Coach Harper is someone who really believes in her players and pushes them to be their best, and you can tell she’s built a strong culture within the program,” Caffey said. “I’m just grateful for everyone who has supported me throughout this process, and I’m excited for this next chapter.”
A four-star prospect, Caffey was a four-year standout at Incarnate Word Academy, where she won four-straight Missouri Class 6 State Championships and was named 2025 Miss Show-Me Basketball. While with the Red Knights, the program set a national record for consecutive wins during her tenure, winning 139 games in a row.
In her senior season, she averaged 16.9 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game and was a third team All-American honoree, Class 6 All-State Player of the Year and named Class 6 first team All-State.
Caffey was the No. 65 recruit in the class of 2025.
