NECAC to hold public hearing on rent-assistance plan

The North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) will host a public hearing at 10 a.m. Monday, June 12, at the agency’s Community Services Department Building next to the NECAC Pike County Service Center at 805 Business Highway 61 North in Bowling Green.The hearing is on its annual plan to be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as a contract compliance and requirement to receive funding for the Section 8 Housing Rent-Assistance Program for residents of 11 counties.The affected counties are Lewis, Lincoln, Macon, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Rails, Randolph, Shelby and Warren, and are known as the LCPHA 11-County Joint Housing Commission.The 11-member commission is made up of one county commissioner from each county, and all serve on the NECAC Board of Directors.The annual plan and public hearing are part of the contract requirements NECAC has with HUD and the 11-county joint commission and describe NECAC’s administration of the Section 8 program.
