NECAC seeks Warren County board member

The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) is seeking a Warren County board member.

Nominations for the low-income representative position are being accepted through March 15 for the remainder of a four-year term that ends in September 2023.

Candidates must live in Warren County and be nominated by a low-income resident or a service organization that represents the disadvantaged. Candidates need not be low-income persons themselves.

The NECAC Board meets at 7 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of January, March, May, July, September and November at the agency’s Central Administration Executive Office Building in Bowling Green. An annual social event meeting is held in October. A complimentary meal is provided to board members before each meeting and a travel reimbursement of 51 cents per mile to and from each meeting is allowed. Meetings usually are completed by 9 p.m.

The nomination period begins Feb. 15. The election will be held on March 22 by the NECAC Board, with installation and term of office beginning on May 24.

Nomination forms that are available at the NECAC Warren County Service Center, 120 E. Main in Warrenton. A biographical questionnaire provided by the agency must be completed or a personal resume will be required from all candidates. Currently serving on the board are Fred Vahle of Warrenton and Lisa Key of Wright City.

NECAC administers more than 60 programs through contracts and grants with federal, state and local governments, private businesses and other not-for profit organizations to operate and administer self-sufficiency service programs for the low-income, elderly, youth, disabled and disadvantaged population. The agency has an annual budget of more than $29 million, with 100 full-time and more than 80 part-time employees.
