NECAC seeks nominations for two board positions from Warren County

The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC), a 12-county area social service, community health and public housing Community Action Agency, is accepting candidate nominations for two open board positions in Warren County with a deadline of Sept. 7.Qualified residents are being invited to serve four-year terms from October 2015 to September 2019 as a Civic Interest Representative (CIR) and a Low-Income Representative (LIR) on the agency’s 36-member volunteer Board of Directors. Warren County is one of three counties designated as Region IV in the agency’s 12-county service area. Montgomery and St. Charles counties are the other two.The CIR candidate must be a resident of Warren County and a member of or nominated by a local business, labor, civic, fraternal, social, educational or religious organization.The LIR candidate must be a resident of Warren County and be nominated by a low-income resident of the county or a service organization or group that serves the interest and needs of the low-income in the county. LIR candidates need not be low-income persons themselves.The NECAC Board is a tri-partite membership represented by three members from each county in the service area; one CIR, one LIR and one Public Elected Official (PEO).The nomination period will be open for 30 days, beginning on Aug. 7 and closing on Sept. 7. The election will be held on Sept. 22 by the NECAC Board of Directors, with installation and term of office beginning on Oct. 27.Nominations must be made on authorized forms that are available at the NECAC Warren County Service Center. A biographical questionnaire provided by NECAC must be completed or a personal resume will be required from all candidates.The NECAC Board meets on the fourth Tuesday at 7 p.m. during the months of January, March, May, July, September, October and November at the agency’s Central Administration Executive Office Building in Bowling Green. A complimentary meal is provided to board members before each meeting and a travel reimbursement of 51 cents per mile to and from each meeting is allowed. Meetings usually are completed by 9 p.m.NECAC is one of 19 not-for-profit Community Action Agencies in Missouri and more than 1,000 across the United States. The agency’s Central Administration Executive Office Building is located in Bowling Green, with NECAC County Service Centers operated in each county. Marion County Presiding Commissioner Lyndon Bode of Palmyra is the current chairman of the board and Don Patrick of Louisiana is the agency’s president and chief executive officer.The NECAC Public Elected Official board member from Warren County is Fred Vahle of Warrenton. Currently serving as the Civic Interest Representative is Angie Scott of Warrenton, with Jeff Thomsen of Innsbrook as the Low-Income Representative.NECAC administers more than 60 programs through contracts and grants with federal, state and local governments, private businesses and other not-for-profit organizations to operate and administer self-sufficiency service programs for the low-income, elderly, youth, disabled and disadvantaged population.The agency has an annual budget of more than $26 million, with 96 full-time and more than 200 part-time employees.More information and assistance is available by calling NECAC Warren County Service Coordinator Casey Burton at 636-456-8191 during office hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday.
