The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) is seeking applications for its home weatherization program that it has operated through a contract with the Missouri Department of Economic Development Division of Energy (DOE) for more than 25 years. The program covers Lewis, Lincoln, Macon, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Ralls, Randolph, St. Charles, Shelby and Warren counties.Services available to income-qualifying households include home energy audits, air leak sealing, insulation of walls, attics and floors, replacement of furnaces and checks of heating systems to make sure they are working properly.NECAC can spend up to $6,500 per home. Rental and owner-occupied units and mobile homes are eligible.“Clients whose homes are weatherized consistently see a decrease in their utility bills,,” said NECAC Weatherization Program Director Ken Schneidler. “In some cases, the savings can be substantial.”In addition to the DOE program, NECAC does weatherization projects through partnership contracts with Ameren Missouri, Laclede Gas Co. and Atmos Energy. Each year, NECAC weatherizes up to 500 homes. For more information, call Schneidler, 573-324-2251, or contact one of the following NECAC County Service Centers:• 11 Woodcrest Drive in Troy, 636-528-7604;• 3400 Meadow Pointe Drive in O’Fallon, 636-272-3477;• 120 E.
