A murder trial began Monday for Ashley N. Hunter, 31, who is charged in Warren County Circuit Court for the 2015 shooting of her husband at their home north of Foristell.
Hunter was arrested in January 2015 after allegedly shooting her husband, Nicholas Hunter, during an altercation. She was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
A defense attorney for Hunter said she was acting in self-defense.
The trial jury was selected Monday morning, and prosecutors began presenting evidence to support the murder charge against Hunter. The trial is scheduled to last eight days, and is being overseen by Senior Judge Keith M. Sutherland.
