Multi-vehicle crash on I-70 injures eight in Warren County

Posted

Eight people were injured in a five-vehicle crash on Interstate 70 in Warren County on Monday afternoon, July 13.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 2:46 p.m. on eastbound I-70 near the 203-mile marker.

The patrol reported that a Volvo tractor-trailer struck the rear of an Infiniti QX80, pushing it into a Lexus RX350. A second tractor-trailer then collided with both the Infiniti and Lexus before striking a Toyota Camry, causing the Camry to rotate off the right side of the roadway.

Eight people suffered injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Those injured included the 26-year-old Camry driver from Wentzville, the 86-year-old Lexus driver from St. Louis, five occupants of the Infiniti from O'Fallon, Illinois — including three juveniles ages 6, 8 and 14 — and a 38-year-old female passenger.

The injured were transported by Warren County Ambulance and the St. Charles County Ambulance District to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital-Lake Saint Louis, Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children's Hospital.

The patrol reported all drivers and injured occupants were wearing seat belts. Three passenger vehicles were totaled, while both tractor-trailers sustained moderate to extensive damage and were towed from the scene.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of the occupants involved in injury crashes.
