To The Editor,Every week there is a letter on the editorial page from SCC about Prop J and no rebuttal is ever printed. On page 3A in the Oct. 17, 2019 edition there is an article detailing Prop J in which it states that the 16.66 cent per $100 valuation tax will be levied on both personal and property taxes in Warren County.Nowhere in the last few letters to the editor by the SCC president does it clarify that this tax will affect everyone in the county and will be a forever tax. Those of us that will very soon be living on a fixed income cannot in good conscience afford to support any more taxes that will take away from our income. It doesn’t matter how they spin the proposed tax, taxes never die and seldom live up to their promises. Our household will definitely not be supporting this tax at the polls on Nov. 5. There needs to be more truth in advertising what exactly this tax will entail and the real numbers residents of Warren County will be paying.More transparency and truth is needed before voters decide. I would venture to say that there are more residents of the county who will have to foot the bill for this tax than will ever benefit from it.Sherry JonesWarrenton
