The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Warren County from 5 p.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday.The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is reporting that hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.Snow is expected during the late afternoon. The snow is expected to mix with and turn into light freezing rain during the late evening and overnight hours. Total snow accumulations could be up to 2 inches. Ice accumulations could be up to 1/10 of an inch.MoDOT reports that whiteout conditions could affect travel with this system. As the storm passes through the region, it is expected to be heavy at times, with rates reaching 1-inch per hour and total accumulations in the 2 to 4 inch range in some areas.Drivers should use caution and plan for much of the activity to occur during the afternoon rush hour and the evening commute. Motorists should have a full tank of gas before heading out Tuesday. Drivers who encounter car troubles or are involved in a crash, should remain in their vehicles.Stay informed about Missouri road conditions by using MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map at www.modot.org, or through MoDOT’s smartphone app, available for iPhone and Android mobile devices.MoDOT also provides road condition information through its Customer Service Center.
