Two races emerged in the final days of candidate filing for countywide offices that will be decided in August.
Dave Mikus filed for the District 2 commissioner seat and will oppose John Miller for the Republican nomination. Both are seeking to replace Tom Meyer, who is not seeking re-election.
A race also has emerged for county coroner where Jodi Hayeslip filed in the past week and will face Jason Sides. Both are Republicans.
Candidate filing closed on Tuesday, March 26.
The primary election will be held Tuesday, Aug. 7, with the general election set for Tuesday, Nov. 6.
The remainder of the county offices that will appear on the ballot will be uncontested. Incumbents who are seeking re-election are Sheriff Kevin Harrison, Assessor Katie Smith and District 1 Commissioner Matt Flake.
Newcomers who filed for the other offices are Bart Korman (surveyor), Vickie Vohsen (public administrator) and Richard Scheibe (12th Judicial Circuit judge).
All candidates are Republicans.
No new candidates have filed for the 42nd District seat in the Missouri House of Representatives. Republican incumbent Jeff Myers of Warrenton has filed, along with Democrat Shaun Sparks of Warrenton. The 42nd District covers all of Warren County and the eastern portion of Montgomery County. Myers and Sparks will run unopposed in the August primary and will face one another in November.
The 3rd District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives did not have any new candidates register in the past week. The candidate list includes eight Republicans (Arnie C. AC Arn Dienoff, Chad Bicknell, Kyle Bone, Brandon Wilkinson, Bob Onder, Kurt Schaefer, Justin Hicks and Bruce Bowman), two Democrats (Bethany Mann and Andrew Daly) and one Libertarian (Jordan Rowden).
The position is currently held by Republican Blaine Luetkemeyer.
