A Wellsville man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for distribution of a controlled substance.A sentencing hearing was held Jan. 7 in Montgomery County Circuit Court. In October, a jury found Jerry Lee Cole guilty of felony drug distribution stemming from an August 2013 incident.Cole was charged as a prior and persistent offender, according to Montgomery County Prosecutor Nathan Carroz. At the sentencing, it was learned that Cole was on parole in relation to a 10-year sentence he received for a similar distribution charge that occurred in August 2006.Judge Wes Dalton ordered Cole’s 20-year sentence to run consecutively to his prior 10-year sentence.“I am proud of the efforts of all individuals involved in the investigation and prosecution of this case,” Carroz said. “The circumstances of this case required the sudden and immediate attention and cooperation of many agencies, including the Wellsville Police Department, East Central Drug Task Force, Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, and Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Through this cooperative effort, we have all worked to make our community a safer place.”Montgomery County man receives 20-year sentence for distribution
