Memorial Day ceremonies honoring the men and women who died serving in the U.S. military will be conducted in Warrenton on May 31.
Ceremonies will begin at 11 a.m. at the Tribute to Veterans Memorial, and will include raising the flags of each branch of the military and playing of Taps. The memorial site is located at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Market Street.
A full Memorial Day service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Warrenton Elks Lodge, including invocation and featured speakers. Lunch will follow provided by the Elks.
The Memorial Day ceremonies in Warrenton are conducted by the Tribute to Veterans Memorial Committee, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marine Corps League, American Legions, Elks Club, and their associated auxiliaries.
The annual Marthasville American Legion Memorial Service honoring the memory and service of veterans will take place at noon on Monday, May 31, at American Legion Post 180, 3 miles north of Marthasville on Highway 47.
This year the guest speaker will be Mr. Andrew Bailey of Rhineland, Mo. Mr. Bailey serves in the General Council Office of Governor Parson. He is a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom with two deployments in Iraq. The program will include military honors along with a reading of deceased members’ names of Daniel Boone Post 180.
Following the memorial service, because of COVID compliance, the Legion Auxiliary will serve a sack lunch. It can be taken home or enjoyed in the Legion facilities following social distancing guidelines. Everyone is invited to attend.
The Wright City Avenue Flags will once again be present for Memorial Day honors in the city cemetery on May 30 and 31. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. May 31 under the flag pole.
Anyone who wants to volunteer to erect the flags is asked to come at 7 a.m.
