MB Motorsports inks Pierce to drive at Martinsville

Bobby Pierce, the dirt track phenomenon that turned heads with a superb runner-up performance at Eldora Speedway in July for MB Motorsports, will soon make his return to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.Pierce, 18, will drive the No. 63 on Oct. 31 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway for his asphalt debut in the Kroger 200. Pierce, a native of Oakwood, Ill., recently tested and raced a JR Motorsports late model at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway.Considered one of the brightest upcoming dirt track racers in the country, Pierce wowed NASCAR nation when he captured the 1-800-CarCash Mudsummer Classic pole and battled Christopher Bell for their first career NCWTS victory.MB Motorsports owner Mike Mittler said more Truck Series races are possible in the future, but nothing past Martinsville has been set in stone.In the last Truck Series race Saturday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Akinori Ogata was tabbed to drive and placed 23rd. He completed 135 of the 146 laps. He qualified 30th.This is the second of a three-race stretch with Ogata driving for MB Motorsports. He will drive again Oct. 24 at Talladega Superspeedway.In MB Motorsports’ second entry at Las Vegas, Justin Jennings finished 29th in the No. 36 truck. He exited with electrical issues following 29 laps. He qualified 23rd.
