MB Motorsports caps season with 28th-place showing

MB Motorsports capped off the NASCAR Truck Series season with Garrett Smithley wheeling the No. 63 truck to a 28th-place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway Friday night.Smithley completed 126 of the race’s 134 laps on the 1.5-mile track. He qualified 29th.The race marked the fourth Truck Series start for Smithley this season for Foristell-based MB Motorsports.MB Motorsports also entered a second truck. However, Bobby Pierce failed to make the field despite having the 30th-fastest time in qualifying. Four other trucks with owners provisionals made the 32-truck field ahead of Pierce.For the season, MB Motorsports team owner Mike Mittler finished 20th in the owner standings. The No. 63 truck was entered in all 23 races, ending the year with a second-place showing at Eldora with Pierce and 14th at Michigan with Smithley.  The No. 36 truck attempted 17 races and was 30th in the owner standings.Matt Crafton led six times for a race-high 93 laps to capture his 11th career Truck Series win. John H. Nemechek led for 24 laps and settled for second, ahead of Tyler Reddick, Ben Kennedy and Timothy Peters.Erik Jones, who finished sixth, claimed the season points title, 15 points ahead of Reddick.
