Mr. Marvin John Vogt, 96, a life long resident of Warren County, passed away on Friday, Jan. 17, 2020. Mr. Vogt was born on August 30, 1923, in Warrenton, to the late John and Frances (nee: Drosselmeyer) Vogt.
Marvin served our country in the United States Navy from August 1941 to August 1946, during WWII. After the war, he was married to Wilma J. Wiss, in 1949. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before her passing in 2013. He worked in the construction field for many years and built his own home while living in California. He enjoyed woodworking and building model trains, including all of the buildings that went with it. He and Wilma were members of Frieden's United Church of Christ in Warrenton. He was also a life long member of the VFW. Marvin also enjoyed riding his bicycle on the Katy Trail in Rhineland.
Marvin was preceded in death by his loving wife, Wilma; two children, Roger Vogt and Susan Miller; his parents, John and Frances; one sister, Evelyn Miltenberger; one brother Gilbert Vogt; one granddaughter, Sara White. He is survived by three grandchildren, Nikki Jackson and her husband Harold, Ariel Henry and her husband John, and Nathan Miller; six great-grandchildren; one nephew, Larry Miltenberger and wife Mona; other relatives and many friends.
Visitation for Mr. Marvin Vogt will be held on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, Martin Funeral Home, Warrenton, from 10-10 a.m.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 24, also at the funeral home, at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow at the Warrenton City Cemetery.
