Marthasville is purchasing two small parcels of land as part of a project to straighten and widen a portion of Hiawatha Street. The city will spend $1,000 for each of the properties, located at a narrow S-curve one block from Highway D. Mayor David Lange described the properties as “triangles” that will allow the city to proceed with the project.Engineers with Buescher Frankenberg and Associates, of Washington, are working on a design for the realigned street.
