A Warren County man accused of assaulting his father during a burglary is facing felony charges in the case.Franklin County authorities issued a warrant charging John M. Busch, 30, Marthasville, with first-degree burglary and second-degree domestic assault, and misdemeanor stealing and second-degree property damage in the case.He was released after posting a $25,000 surety bond, the sheriff’s office said. His bond originally was set at $100,000 cash only, but Associate Circuit Judge Stan Williams twice reduced it, first to $50,000 surety, then to $25,000 surety on Nov. 7.Busch was arraigned Nov. 3 on the charges which stem from an incident Tuesday, Oct. 1, at the home of Busch’s father in Franklin County.According to a probable cause statement filed in court, the suspect had not been welcome in his father’s for a long period of time.Authorities allege he entered the home through an unlocked basement door. His father saw him and ran to a bathroom and locked himself inside. The suspect then went upstairs, took $186 cash and car keys from the father’s bedroom dresser, according to the court statement.Busch then forced open the bathroom door, “with enough force to completely remove the door and hinges from the door frame,” a deputy alleges in the statement. He then began assaulting his father by repeatedly punching him in the face and head and then began choking him to the point that the victim thought he was going to pass out, according to the allegations.“Mr. Busch only ended the assault after being forced to stop by other family members” in the home, according to the allegations. The suspect then left the residence, the sheriff’s office said, and was arrested later.John M.
