A Warren County man is facing a felony charge in a drug-related case, authorities said. The suspect, Stephen R. Willis, 28, Marthasville, is charged with one count of possession with intent to manufacture methamphetamine. His bond was set at $25,000 in the case. The Warren County Sheriff’s Office alleges that Willis attempted to buy cold medicine containing pseudoephedrine at a Warrenton pharmacy but was denied because he already had purchased more than the legal amount of the drug.He then withdrew money from an ATM and gave it to a female acquaintance and had her buy the medicine, authorities allege.Pseudoephedrine is the vital ingredient needed to make methamphetamine and state and federal laws limit the amount a person can purchase.A deputy who had placed the pharmacy under surveillance followed Willis and the female after they left the store.During a traffic stop, police found a pen tube section in the female’s purse, which an officer identified as drug paraphernailia associated with methamphetimine use.Willis later told investigators that he planned to sell the cold medication for $50 to a person who would use it to make meth. Willis said he is a user of the drug.Marthasville Man Faces Drug Charges
