A Marthasville man was charged with first-degree domestic assault, a felony, on June 10 in Warren County.
According to the probable cause statement filed by Sheriff’s Deputy Lance Johnson, officers responded to a residence for a wellness check on June 10 and found the victim who stated Calvin Braun, 28, of Marthasville, had choked her unconscious and assaulted her.
The victim recorded audio of the incident on her phone and according to the probable cause statement, Braun states he tried to kill the victim in the recording and she says she cannot breathe.
Johnson also reported the victim’s injuries which were consistent with her story including bruises on her neck and face as well as her elbows indicating she had been thrown to the ground.
A warrant has been issued for Braun’s arrest and he is to be held without bond.
