On Jan. 1, 2020, the Marthasville Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD) will undergo a name change and will be known as the Marthasville Fire Protection District.
The district board of directors made the decision to change the department’s name in order to comply with plans to build a new fire station. Funds from Proposition F, approved in April 2019, will be allocated under the district name.
The district has made this decision so it can continue to be the best stewards of the taxpayer’s money, according to a press release.
Chief Jeff Backhaus said the MVFD will continue to provide emergency services to its district in southern Warren County, just under the district name, which was established in 1976. The MVFD was the contractual agency, and will now serve as a charitable organization to further serve the needs of fire victims and provide fire safety education to its community.
Backhaus said all members of the department will continue to be volunteers. For more information, contact Backhaus at 636-667-3434.
