Wright City senior Kailyn Gudermuth is hoping another year of experience with a javelin in her hand will lead her back to the Class 3 state meet in Jefferson City this spring.
Gudermuth qualified and eventually found herself on the podium after finishing ninth in her class last May.
Recently she spoke with The Record after being named the March Athlete of the Month.
What do you like most about track? “Working with the new athletes who haven’t really competed in throwing events is really for me.”
What is one thing people might not know about you? “I really love computers and learning more about them.”
What are your plans after high school? “I’m going to go to Missouri Western State University and major in social work.”
Favorite high school memory: “Our homecoming pep rally when the seniors won spirit week. The seniors ran off the field with the spirit ball, and that’s just a great memory for me.”
Where is one place you would like to visit? “Definitely Venice, Italy. I think that’s one of the prettiest places ever.”
Who is one person you would like to have dinner with, dead or alive? “Martin Luther King Jr.”
Biggest fear: “Getting eaten by a shark.”
Favorite meal: “Pasta.”
Least favorite class: “Speech and debate.”
What is the last movie you watched? “ ‘What Happens in Vegas.’ ”
What is the last song you listened to? “ ‘God’s Plan’ by Drake.”
