A deceased man found in a Warrenton apartment last week has been identified as 38-year-old Eddie Sellers Jr., according to Warren County Coroner Roger Mauzy. The body was discovered Wednesday, Nov. 4, when the Warrenton Fire Protection District responded to the scene following a 911 call for a report of a gas leak. The decomposed body had been there about three to four days, Mauzy said. A ruling on the cause of Sellers' death has not been made. Mauzy said Sellers' body has been sent to the St. Louis medical examiner's office for an autopsy. He said results would not be known for up to two months. "There is no determination on the cause of death," Mauzy said. Warrenton Police Chief Greg Houdyshell confirmed drugs were found at the scene. A drug overdose is suspected, according to authorities. "There is that possibility," Houdyshell said. The apartment, in the 200 block of Bedford, is located in the Virginal Village complex in Warrenton near the Days Inn hotel. Emergency personnel responded to the scene at 11:38 a.m. Sellers was pronounce dead at 1:05 p.m. There was no indication of foul play, according to Mauzy. The windows and door to the apartment were sealed, he added. Houdyshell said the door to the apartment was barricaded inside by a reclining chair when officers arrived. Sellers was sentenced last month to five years probation stemming from a felony forgery charge when he issued a check to a Wright City business earlier this year. He was ordered to pay $63.33 in restitution, according to court documents. Since the start of the year, Sellers has been charged with eight counts of forgery, court documents show. He also pled guilty in 2006 for three counts of third-degree domestic assault stemming from two separate incidents in 2006. He successfully completed two years of probation for both cases. In an unrelated case, an autopsy also is being conducted on a Truesdale man who was found dead at his residence last week. Mauzy pronounced Clarence Dysart, 50, dead at 7:45 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2. Dysart lived in the 700 block of Smith Street. No foul play or drugs are suspected in the death, according to Mauzy.
