Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Warren County man last week after he allegedly injured a woman by throwing multiple dangerous objects at her.
Eric L. Reed, 47, Wright City, was arrested Oct. 25 and charged with second-degree domestic assault, a class D felony. According to a sheriff’s department report, Reed allegedly admitted to the assault and made other threatening statements in the presence of deputies.
Deputies were called for a domestic assault at a home on Tina Drive outside Wright City just before 6 p.m. Oct. 25. A woman at the home showed deputies multiple injuries, including minor puncture wounds on her chest and a bruise on her shoulder, according to the sheriff’s department.
The woman told deputies Reed threw multiple knives at her in the kitchen, which caused the chest injury, and had thrown a lockout device that caused a 3-inch bruise on the back of her shoulder. Deputies also found ash marks on the woman’s clothing, where the woman stated Reed had thrown a chunk of burning wood at her.
Reed spoke with deputies and allegedly admitted to some of the accusations, according to the sheriff’s department. Deputies said he also acknowledged that he has been arrested three times prior for assaulting the same victim.
Deputies allege that during transport to the Warren County Jail, Reed continued talking about the incident and made open ended threats about ending the situation for good once he is released.
Reed made his initial court appearance Oct. 28 before Associate Circuit Judge Richard Scheibe. Reed’s next status hearing is Nov. 9 in Warren County Circuit Court.
Reed has three prior charges for misdemeanor domestic assault, stemming from incidents in March 2020, May 2019 and March 2019. Each of those cases is pending resolution.
