Update:Ambulance district personnel were nearby around the time a person was struck and killed by a vehicle on the North Outer Road west of Warrenton this morning.Warren County Ambulance Administrator Ralph Hellebusch said medical staff were initially called at 5:03 a.m. to check on a vehicle stopped along the road about 3 1/2 miles west of Warrenton.That crew found an unoccupied vehicle and was returning to service when the call came in that a pedestrian had been hit west of their location, Hellebusch said. The man was dead before the ambulance arrived, and was believed to be the driver of the abandoned vehicle, he said.The identity of the deceased person has not yet been released, although Hellebusch said he was a 21-year-old white male from St. Louis.There were no injuries to the driver of the vehicle which struck the pedestrian, Hellebusch said. That driver's identity has also not been released.The Missouri Highway Patrol investigated the scene of the death, but has not yet released a preliminary report.Original story:A man was struck by a vehicle and died on the North Outer Road early this morning about 4 miles west of Warrenton and a mile east of the Highway Pendleton/Truxton exit.Authorities believe the man was walking along the road after his vehicle broke down or got stuck.Warren County Coroner Glenn Craig said authorities can't release much information yet because the identity of the victim hasn't been fully confirmed, although they believe they know who he is. They must also notify his next of kin.Craig said emergency responders were called a little after 5 a.m. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.This is a developing story.
