A 35-year-old Sedalia man was killed when his tractor-trailer overturned in the center median on Interstate 70 Wednesday afternoon.
The man was identified as James L. Lutjen. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported Lutjen was driving westbound in the passing lane when his tractor-trailer traveled off the left side of the roadway and overturned. It was not known if he was wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.
Lutjen was pronounced dead at the scene by Warren County Coroner Roger Mauzy. The accident occurred around 2:20 p.m. about a mile west of the Warrenton overpass. The accident caused traffic in both the eastbound and westbound lanes to be backed up for miles while emergency crews were on the scene.
