Sgt. Al Nothum with the Missouri Highway Patrol said Boyle was running in and out of traffic on eastbound Interstate 70 near the 182 mile marker. His antics brought traffic to a crawl, allowing him to grab the mirror on a semi truck and climb onto the hood.He remained on the hood until the 188 mile marker, near Route B. There, he was stopped by a state trooper. But rather than face arrest, he ran across the highway. Nothum said he ran across the westbound lanes and was struck by an oncoming semi. He said Boyle was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Nothum said it’s hard to know what prompted Boyle’s actions. He said the incident is being investigated. While the accident scene was being processed for the investigation, westbound I-70 was closed from about 5 to 9 p.m. Westbound drivers were diverted onto the north service road from Warrenton to Jonesburg. Just after 7 p.m. Westbound traffic was backed up to Wright City. Fatal accident
