A Warrenton man accused of striking a child multiple times has pleaded guilty to endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree.Glen Harlan, 40, appeared in Warren County Circuit Court July 11 and was ordered to serve five years of state-supervised probation.Police received a report of physical abuse last year. A police officer met with the juvenile victim in August and observed bruising on the minor’s face and a swollen wrist, according to a police report. Further examination revealed bruising on the minor’s chest and shoulder.The minor described being struck by Harlan multiple times the night before, according to police.During an interview with police in August, Harlan allegedly admitted to slapping the minor multiple times after the minor lied to him. Harlan said he had spanked the minor, and that he had accidentally hit the minor’s face. Harlan later allegedly said he sometimes grabs the minor’s hands and squeezes, that on occasion his arm is “stronger than he meant” and that the minor bruises easily, according to the police report.No explanation was given for the bruises on the minor’s chest, according to the report. Harlan said he tends to snap when he is lied to, the report stated.Harlan was placed on probation in 2004, and again in 2006, after pleading guilty to misdemeanor domestic assault charges, according to court records.Glen Harlan
