Warren County authorities this week issued a warrant for the arrest of a county man accused of molesting a teenager over several years.
Wayne E. McRoberts, 53, is wanted for second-degree child molestation involving a child under 17. The Warren County Circuit Court issued a warrant for his arrest Dec. 16.
In a court filing, the Warren County Sheriff’s Department said McRoberts is suspected of molesting a teenage girl on several occasions between 2016 and 2018 at homes in the Orchard Farm Trailer Park. The victim was between 14 and 16 years old. Investigators said the girl first reported the alleged abuse in July 2018.
During an interview with investigators, McRoberts allegedly admitted to one encounter where he attempted to have sex with the girl in September 2017.
The molestation charge against McRoberts is a class B felony punishable by five to 15 years in prison if he is convicted.
McRoberts previously was convicted of four charges of child molestation or attempted child molestation out of Wentzville. He was charged earlier this year in Warren County Circuit Court for failure to register as a sex offender.
Authorities are seeking restrictive bond conditions or no bond for McRoberts, because of his previous failure to register. The sheriff’s department said he also attempted to hide from deputies who came to investigate this case.
