A Warrenton man is charged with burglary and domestic assault after authorities say he hid in the dresser of a woman with a protection order against him.
Sidney M. Pugh, 44, was arrested Jan. 30 after a victim reported an assault in her home on the 1000 block of Barberry Court, according to a Warrenton Police report.
The victim told police she came home and walked into her bedroom, where she was confronted by Pugh. He had allegedly removed the back and shelves from a dresser in order to conceal himself in the residence.
The victim reported that she ran to the living room, where Pugh allegedly pinned her against a wall and began to choke her. Pugh eventually released her, and reportedly waited for police to arrive.
Officers said the victim had visible marks around her neck consistent with being choked.
The woman received a protection order last year prohibiting Pugh from being at the residence, police said.
