A man was charged with assault in the first degree following an incident Nov. 9 at the Super 8 in Warrenton.
In the early morning hours of November 9, 2025, Warrenton officers were dispatched to the Super 8 Motel for a report of a physical disturbance. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject who was heavily intoxicated and suffering from probable head injuries. EMS was called to the scene and transported the individual to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment as officers initiated their investigation.
According to a probable cause affidavit submitted by the Warrenton Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Super 8 on Wednesday, Nov. 12 in reference to the assault that occurred in the early morning hours of Nov 9 between midnight and 5:20 a.m.
Officers made contact with Juan Roberto Martinez Jr. of Warrenton who said to officers, “...we had an argument...we were both drinking...and … I know I messed up man… we were drinking and got in a fight… I think I did take it too far… I just want my friend out of the hospital,” according to the affidavit.
Officers then viewed security camera footage of Martinez and the victim and Martinez is seen punching, slapping and choking the victim before pulling the victim’s shirt over is head. The victim then fell to the ground and Martinez was observed stomping on the victim’s head, according to the affidavit.
Officers then made contact with the victim’s family and doctor who said the victim suffered 12 fractures to the skull, severe traumatic brain injury, likely permanent damage which will require extensive rehabilitation.
Martinez is being held at the Warren County Jail without bond.
