Man charged in burglary

An early morning break-in and assault at a Wright City home have resulted in a felony charge for a local man.The resident of a home on West First Street North told police that just before 5 a.m. Bert U. Jewett, 42, entered the home through a living room window, according to an arrest report. Jewett reportedly went to a bedroom and allegedly threatened to kill two people there, before spitting in the victim’s face and allegedly punching her in the ear, the victim told police.Police reported the victim’s ear and surrounding skin was red 30 minutes after the incident.The arrest report indicated Jewett is a former resident of the home and he had not lived there for at least two months.Jewett is charged with first-degree burglary, a felony, and fourth-degree domestic assault, a misdemeanor.He is in jail on a $25,000 bond and had an arraignment set for March 29 at Warren County Circuit Court.
