Warrenton police said one man was assaulted last week in a conflict over text messages he allegedly sent.
The suspect in the attack, Kody Bouhl, 20, of Warrenton, was arrested Jan. 16 and charged with third-degree assault and second-degree property damage. The day prior, Bouhl allegedly assaulted a man sleeping at his home off of Fairgrounds Road, according to an arrest report.
The victim told police that Bouhl began by kicking him in the ribs, then punched him in the face repeatedly. Bouhl allegedly prevented the man from fleeing for a short time by holding him against the wall by the neck.
Police located the victim after he fled the home. Officers said there was an open wound on the man’s face and blood covering his face and clothes.
Officers spoke with Bouhl, who allegedly admitted to committing the assault because of messages the victim had sent to a third person. Bouhl said he had punched the man and choked him “Darth Vader style,” before taking the man’s phone and smashing it, according to police.
