A criminal charge has been filed against a man accused of assaulting a victim using a box cutter.Jacob D. Rennecker, 21, Montgomery City, is charged with second-degree domestic assault, for allegedly attacking a person who he previously had a relationship with. He was arrested July 19.The female victim contacted authorities July 16 to report that Rennecker had allegedly assaulted her the week prior, according to a Warren County Sheriff’s Department report. The victim told police that on July 11, Rennecker had become angry and attacked her at a home on Finch Court in Truesdale.She alleged that Rennecker grabbed a red box cutter and cut her near her right eye.A sheriff’s department detective reportedly observed a partially healed cut nearly 2 inches long on the side of the woman’s face,The investigator later contacted Rennecker by phone, during which Rennecker allegedly admitted to getting in an argument with the victim and pulling a knife on her.Rennecker was held at the Warren County Jail until a July 23 hearing before Associate Circuit Judge Richard Scheibe. He was then released from custody on his own recognizance while the court case proceeds. Rennecker's next hearing is Aug. 28 in Warren County Circuit Court.
