Lindenwood University’s Historic Daniel Boone Home & Heritage Center is proud to announce the dedication of their new pavilion. The ceremony took place Sunday, May 17. A large crowd gathered to dedicate this beautiful new structure. Those in attendance included many community members as well as the president of Lindenwood University, members of the Lindenwood University Board of Directors, the mayor of St. Peters, Defiance and Augusta Chamber members and officers, and the Missouri Society of the Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard and president, to name a few.During the dedication ceremony, the Missouri Society of the Sons of the American Revolution presented a plaque to the Historic Daniel Boone Home & Heritage Center honoring Daniel Boone and his service in the American Revolution. This honorable plaque will be hung in the new pavilion. The pavilion is a welcome addition to the site at 5,130 square feet plus additional modern restrooms and infra-red heating for use during cooler weather. It will function as a gathering area for school groups, special events, and other tour groups. It will also serve as a covered area for those wishing to have lunch on site during inclement weather. The pavilion boasts a magnificent view of the historic village as well as four sets of beautifully crafted display cases designed and built by the Boone Home’s amazing volunteer carpenters. The display cases will be used as a rotating exhibit space for artifacts pertaining to Daniel Boone and the Missouri frontier in the early 1800s.For more information contact Patricia Fulhorst at pfulhorst@lindenwood.edu or at 636-798-2005.
