Warrenton wrestlers Noah Lohrmann and Jacob Ruff are both in the running for a Class 3 state wrestling title.
Lohrmann and Ruff each won both of their matches today to advance to the state semifinals in their weight class. Lohrmann earned a 3-1 opening round win over Devon Deckelman of Washington. He overcame a third period deficit to beat Elijah Teiberis of Jefferson City 6-5 in the state quarterfinals. Lohrmann will face Porter Matecki of Whitfield in the semifinals of the 126-pound weight class bracket.
Ruff advanced to the semifinals in the 190-pound weight class. Ruff pinned Colin Carter of Windsor Imperial in his opening match. He beat Chance Benford of Carl Junction in overtime on an 8-6 sudden victory to punch his ticket to the state semifinals. Ruff earned two points for a takedown of Benford 15 seconds into overtime. Ruff will face CJ Nelson of Van Horn in the semifinals.
Joshua Kassing and Manny McCauley each went 2-1 on the day to advance to the third round wrestlebacks. McCauley will face Carter Foglesong of Carl Junction in the 106-pound weight class bracket. Kassing will face Presley Johnson of Farmington in the 120-pound weight class bracket.
Jeremiah Kassing won his opening match before dropping his next two matches. Anthony Lombardo lost both of his matches.
Wrestling will resume at 8 a.m. tomorrow. The Class 3 third place and fifth place matches will be held at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow. The Class 3 championship matches will be held at 5:45 p.m. tomorrow.
