Scenic Regional Library’s Warrenton branch will close from Aug. 1 until Sept. 30 while it undergoes a renovation. For two months it won’t require staff to help visitors, but no one has lost their job. Rather, the Scenic Regional Library offered staff some choices.“Our branch manager, the only full-time person we have at the branch, is being temporarily transferred to our administrative offices in Union to work on special projects for us,” said Steven W. Campbell, director for Scenic Regional Library. The part-time staff was given the option of working some hours at the Wright City branch or collecting unemployment relief during the closure.“We had two choose to work at Wright City. They will be working 16-20 hours a week. This is a little less than they had been working at the Warrenton branch. The rest of the part-time staff chose to collect unemployment,” Campbell said. The branch is expanding from 9,000 square feet to 12,000 square feet. The bigger space will allow for dedicated spaces for teen and children’s areas, adult seating, outdoor seating, study rooms and a public meeting and programming space. The expanded building will open at 9 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1. A grand opening ceremony will follow on Oct. 8.Scenic Regional Library logo
