Scenic Regional Library announced late on Thursday that its branches will suspend all outreach, programs and events to prevent the spread of coronavirus, effective Saturday, March 14.
Libraries will remain open, said District Director Steven Campbell, but all story times, children and adult programs, and other special events have been canceled until April 1. The libraries will also suspend public use of their meeting rooms.
Bookmobile services and all community outreach programs, such as to schools or assisted living facilities, are included in the suspension.
“The library’s administration hopes to resume programming and outreach on April 1, pending further evaluation of the situation,” Campbell said in a press release.
Although normal in-house library services will remain available, about half of the public computers at each branch will be shut down to maintain one empty seat between computer users.
“The library will also begin heightened cleaning procedures, including wiping down returned materials, computer keyboards and mice, toys in the children’s areas, and counters at the service desks, regularly with disinfectant wipes,” Campbell said.
Library staff and patrons who have experienced fever or flu-like symptoms are asked to stay home.
