The Liberty Christian girls spotted Bethel Academy 17 points Monday night, and the deficit was too big to overcome in a 51-31 loss.
Bethel took a 19-2 lead early in the game, and extended its lead to 44-18 heading into the fourth quarter.
Liberty Christian senior Matilyn Voss led the team with 20 points.
Senior Kaylee Hulverson added three points, and two middle-school players, Andrea Mueller and Jenna Grow, rounded out the scoring with six points total.
“We really don’t have a J.V. girls team,” Head Coach Matt Voss said last week. “So here is where they have to learn.”
Liberty Christian fell to 4-6 heading into Tuesday’s game at Fulton.
Voss said he wants to work on all the fundamentals over the Christmas break, hoping to eliminate unforced turnovers that have plagued his team at times.
“You have to stay humble,” he said. “And the younger girls need to realize their time is coming.”
The Eagles will have a two-week layoff over Christmas break, and return to the court Jan. 5 at Community Christian.
Return to action Jan. 5.
