Five Liberty Christian Academy students have qualified for the American Legion’s Boys State and the American Legion Auxiliary’s Girls State programs.Elizabeth Moss, Michael Foran, Josiah Brumagin, Dakota Ball and Jenna Grow all met the criteria to be a part of Boys and Girls State Programs. “These students have shown the leadership abilities, interest in their community, service to others and academics to be listed as some of the best juniors students in the state,” said State Rep. Bryan Spencer, R-Wright City. “Less than 1 percent of Missouri’s juniors are selected to participate in these programs and the list of distinguished alumni that credit these programs have listed it as their inspirations to succeed in all areas of life.”The American Legion Boys State of Missouri and The American Legion Auxiliary is an eight-day hands-on experience in the operation and fundamentals of government. The Missouri Boys and Girls State programs draw together the best and brightest high school juniors to help lead them down the path of individual success and leadership through “doing,” not just learning. The Missouri Boys and Girls State programs promote that the individual is the one with the power to change the world, and that whether athlete or politician, journalist or scientist, each and every one of us has the power to make a difference in the world.Using the democratic system as a basis, the program equip the participants, or citizens, each year to construct their own state, utilizing Americans’ core values to teach the need for competition, the value of public service, and the strength of the individual voice and vote to help to shape the future of our society. In addition, participants of The American Legion Boys and Girls State of Missouri are eligible to receive college credit and scholarships for participating and successfully completing the program.Spencer encourages the citizens of District 63 to congratulate and support these students in their endeavor.“This is a valuable program for the students of Warren County. I plan on sponsoring two of the students and the American Legion and Auxiliary of Warren County are considering sponsoring the others,” he said. “I would encourage people of Warren County to donate to the American Legion and the Auxiliary so more students from Warrenton, Wright City and Liberty Christian Academy can take advantage of this great opportunity. We have some great students in Warren County. It’s time we show them off. ”
