The Liberty Christian girls basketball team improved to 6-2 with a dominant win over Collinsville Christian on Saturday.Avery Dickson netted a team-best 14 points, while Matilyn Voss scored 7 points.“We moved the ball well and our offense looked pretty good,” said Coach Matt Voss. “Our five-out offense really worked well.”The Eagles are still without Kayley Hulverson, who is sidelined with a knee injury.Coach Voss says others are stepping up, including Kaylen Jordan, who accounted for 10 points on Saturday.“The scoring has been more about passing the ball around and getting assists from Avery,” said Coach Voss. “It was good to see more people scoring and becoming more of a team.”He is gradually seeing progress from a team that lacks depth and has asked a lot of its younger players.“Going forward, I think we’re getting much stronger as a team and not just depending on Matilyn and Avery to score all the buckets,” said Coach Voss.Against Collinsville, Voss was also pleased with his team’s defensive effort, as the Eagles employed the 2-1-2 zone.“We were focused on keeping them out of the paint,” said Coach Voss. “We wanted to box out and get the rebounds.”He has been particularly pleased with the improved play of Jenna Grow and Makenna Meyer.“They have really been hustling and showing a lot of energy,” said Voss. “I’m excited about those two young ladies in the future.”
