The Liberty Christian girls basketball team has gotten off to a fast start by winning its first two games of the season by a combined score 154-41.
The Eagles had three players score in double figures in Friday’s 64-29 victory over Westwood Baptist Academy. Junior Adison Roden led the way with 20 points, followed by junior Andrea Mueller with 14 and freshman Sophie Mueller with 10.
Liberty Christian led 22-6 after the first quarter and had a 49-9 advantage at intermission.
In the Eagles’ season opener Nov. 10, four players reached double figures led by Andrea Mueller’s game-high 25 points in a 90-12 blowout of Crosspoint Christian.
Liberty Christian jumped out to a 23-0 lead in the opening quarter and led 54-4 at halftime. Roden scored 21 points, followed by sophomore Anna Meyer with 12 and junior Gracie Foran with 10.
The Eagles made 40 of 68 shots (59 percent) from the field.
The Liberty Christian boys basketball team also opened the season with two victories.
The Eagles opened the year with a 70-50 win over Crosspoint Christian on Nov. 10 and defeated Westwood Baptist Academy 61-41 on Friday.
In the season opener, Liberty Christian led by 12 at the half, but used a 19-6 scoring run in the third quarter to pull away. Junior Cole Christian had a team-high 24 points. Also reaching double digits were senior Josh Dames with 21 points, sophomore Zack Dames with 11 and junior Caleb Schneider with 10.
In Friday’s win, another strong third quarter helped the Eagles prevail. They led 15-10 after the first quarter and 26-17 at halftime and outscored Westwood Baptist 19-9 in the third quarter.
Josh Dames erupted for 32 points and also had 10 rebounds. Schneider also recorded a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Christian chipped in with 11 points.
