The Liberty Christian boys basketball team continued its perfect start to the 2025-26 season with a commanding 76-33 win at Providence Christian on Tuesday.
The Eagles (4-0 overall, 3-0 in Metro Athletic Conference play) opened the game in commanding fashion, moving out to a 28-4 lead by the end of the first quarter. That lead grew to 45-10 by halftime.
Junior guard Phoenix Obermann led the Eagles with 22 points while adding five assists and three steals. Senior forward Willy Mueller added a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds. Junior forward Tucker Wainscott was the third Eagle in double figures as he pitched in 12 points.
Up next, Liberty Christian will head to Wellsville for a game at 7:30 p.m., Friday.
PROVIDENCE CHRISTIAN 29, LIBERTY CHRISTIAN 28 – The visiting Liberty Christian girls lost a tough one on the road Tuesday, falling to the host school.
After easing to a 9-7 lead after the first quarter, Liberty Christian (2-1) fell behind by the 17-14 score at halftime and 23-20 after the third quarter.
Senior Trina Scheltens and junior Molly Boenker led Liberty Christian with eight points apiece.
“Trina stays steady with hard work,” Eagles coach Kim Meyer said. “Callie Dickson played a surprising game and Emma Roden also stepped up.”
The Liberty Christian girls will also head to Wellsville for a game on Friday, starting at 6 p.m.
