One new candidate has filed for a county office with the filing deadline less than a week away.

Vickie Vohsen has filed to run as a Republican for public administrator. The current officeholder, Melissa Dempsey, has yet to announce her intentions.

The filing period for county and state offices ends Tuesday, March 26.

Others who have filed are Kevin Harrison (sheriff), Katie Smith (assessor), Matt Flake (District 1 commissioner), John Miller (District 2 commissioner), Bart Korman (surveyor) and Richard Scheibe (12th Judicial Circuit judge). All are Republicans.

Harrison, Smith and Flake are incumbents and all candidates who have filed are Republicans.

No new candidates have filed for the 42nd District seat in the Missouri House of Representatives. Republican incumbent Jeff Myers of Warrenton has filed, along with Democrat Shaun Sparks of Warrenton. The 42nd District covers all of Warren County and the eastern portion of Montgomery County.

The 3rd District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives did not have any new candidates register in the past week. The candidate list includes eight Republicans (Arnie C. AC Arn Dienoff, Chad Bicknell, Kyle Bone, Brandon Wilkinson, Bob Onder, Mary Elizabeth Coleman, Kurt Schaefer and Justin Hicks), two Democrats (Bethany Mann and Andrew Daly) and one Libertarian (Jordan Rowden).

The position is currently held by Republican Blaine Luetkemeyer.

The primary election will be held Tuesday, Aug. 7, with the general election set for Tuesday, Nov. 6.
