Liberty Christian outscored Wellsville-Middletown 33-14 in the second and third quarters in their road win over the Tigers earlier this week.
Liberty Christian (9-2) earned a 62-52 win over Wellsville-Middletown Dec. 19. Four Liberty Christian players scored at least 10 points in the win.
The Eagles were led by senior Jack Duvel, who scored 20 points. He also led the Eagles with five assists. Sophomore Willy Mueller logged another double-double, with 17 points and 26 rebounds. Brody Kuehn scored 11 points and Tommy Meyer added 10 points in the win.
The win came after Liberty Christian saw their six game winning streak come to an end last week in their 59-45 loss to Christian Fellowship. The Eagles were unable to overcome a 28-9 first quarter deficit in the loss.
Duvel led the Eagles with 14 points. Mueller registered a double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds. Meyer, Levi Coovert, and Phoenix Oberman each added six points for the Eagles in the loss.
The Liberty Christian girls basketball team also suffered a loss to Christian Fellowship. The Lady Eagles (7-2) fell 77-16 to Christian Fellowship. The Lady Eagles were shutout in the second and fourth quarters in the loss.
Junior Lauren Moss scored 15 of Liberty Christian’s 16 points. Anna Scheltens scored one point. Anna Scheltens and Trina Scheltens each had three steals. Jubilee McGowen led the Lady Eagles with five rebounds.
The Liberty Christian basketball teams are slated to play at St. Vincent in Perryville Dec. 21.
