The Liberty Christian Academy boys basketball team earned a win over 25-win Mississippi Valley Christian in the first round of the Metro Athletic Conference tournament.
Liberty Christian (8-17) beat Mississippi Valley Christian 65-54. The Eagles outscored the Warriors in all four quarters in the win. Liberty Christian has won four consecutive games.
Senior Zach Dames recorded a double-double in the win. Dames scored 20 points and hauled in 10 rebounds. Jack Duvel led the Eagles with 24 points. Freshman Tommy Meyer added 14 points. Freshman Willie Mueller led the Eagles with 20 rebounds.
Liberty Christian won their seventh game of the season last week in their regular season finale. They beat Rivers of Life Christian 81-25. The Eagles jumped out to an early lead and led 57-11 at halftime. Duvel led the Eagles with 24 points. Meyer and Mueller each scored 16 points for Liberty Christian. Dames added 15 points in the win.
Liberty Christian is scheduled to play Eagle Ridge Christian Thursday in the Metro Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
Lady Eagles reach 20 wins in MAC Tourney win
The Liberty Christian girls basketball team cruised to a win over Heritage Classical Christian Academy in the opening round of the Metro Athletic Conference Tournament.
Liberty Christian led 69-14 after three quarters in their 77-19 win over the Hawks Tuesday night. The win was the Lady Eagles’ 20th win of the season. Anna Meyer led Liberty Christian with 28 points in the win. Allie Meyer registered a double-double. She scored 24 points and secured 12 rebounds. Lauren Moss added 14 points for the Lady Eagles. Kylee Ball led Liberty Christian with 14 rebounds.
Liberty Christian beat Rivers of Life Christian 80-38 in last week’s regular season finale. Liberty Christian outscored Rivers of Life Christian 22-3 in the first quarter and led 44-15 at halftime of the win. Anna Meyer led Liberty Christian in scoring with 29 points. Moss added 22 points. Alli Meyer registered another double-double, with 16 points and 13 assists. She also finished the game with nine rebounds.
Liberty Christian is set for a rematch with Rivers of Life Christian Thursday in the Metro Athletic Conference Tournament. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Thomas Jefferson.
